Our Cozy Cabin Winter Getaway

It is quite common for pregnant couples to take a vacation before their baby is born, and we jumped on that bandwagon! Due to the pandemic, we didn’t get to have a wedding or a big baby announcement, so we decided to take a safe trip to a cabin in the woods as a honeymoon/babymoon.

Just the two (and a half?) of us went, and it was magical. We had such a nice time in the cutest little cabin watching movies, enjoying hot food, and taking walks around the wooded areas.

It unfortunately didn’t snow while we were there, but it was quite a bit colder than the weather we have at home. We had a little wood stove fire going the whole time and had to dress warmer than we are used to. The fog around the cabin was magical and the coziness of the cabin was exactly what I needed in a vacation.

We had homemade cookies and coffee (with whipped cream) to enjoy during our Frozen movie marathon. We watched the first movie the first night and the second movie the second night (we only stayed two nights total). It was so much fun and the perfect bonding time that we needed before baby comes.

I didn’t realize how much I needed to get out of the bogged down routine of working all week then catching up on sleep and chores on my days off until we got to the cabin. It was so refreshing and rejuvenating to surround ourselves with nature and spend some quality time together. Ever since I got pregnant in August, I’ve been too tired to really do anything except work, clean, and sleep. So, this trip was some much needed quality time with my husband to celebrate our baby and marriage.

I am beyond grateful that we have the resources and opportunity and health to take a small trip and celebrate our soon-to-be baby. We know a lot of people aren’t in the same position right now, and we feel for them. We are aware of this privilege and are grateful for it every day.
